I am trying to animate various path shapes using either the Render Stroke, or Vector Paint effects. When I try to change the perspective of the animated object, either by rotating the layer in the 3D channel, or using a Camera, the layer and the paths' perspective change, as they should. But the paint or stroke effects do not. They remain flat.
What gives? Anyone know what I am leaving out? Cheers!

hmm sounds weird & i can't recreate your problem, the stroke follows the paths if it's a 3d layer. maybe a glitch?
try restarting AE.
failing that, try pre-comping.

Vespa's second idea should work. Pre Comp it.
Apply the stroke plug, and then make it a new comp. Apply the new rotation/position to the new comp.

Aha, yes that is working. But you know what else seems to be a factor? Something isn't jiving between the "Continuous Rasterize" thingie for vector shapes, and the 3D. One doesn't like the other. Haven't encountered this before.

Not that it should matter, but what version of AE are you using?

using trapcode 3d stroke?
put the switch of comp camera on but keep the layers not in 3d.
just the effects.

Do what tank said and try and stay away from rasterizing stuff. That always seems to make stuff all wonky.

Using AE 6.5.
Nope, not using the Trapcode plugin, although I have it. I opted not to since it wasn't giving me the exact look i wanted to the shape itself.
I know what you are getting at, I may have to do it if nothing else works.

i know.
if u use the trapcode 3D it kinda looks uhm very plugin-like....but with enough tweaking and adjusting u can get a more customized look.
good luck.

You can have effects in 3D but not the layer?
I thought it was all or nothing . . .

I think I am kinda muddling through. Thanks for the help all!

cider.
some effects like particular en 3d stroke have incooerperated this in the swithches so if you also put the layer in 3D it actually nullifies the 3D aspect...
or something like..open de effects panel en you will see a comp camera switch there somewhere...
