sounds like the guy is doing some market research so if you could perhaps expatiate on 'i like/don't like it' the guy would be happier
unless your goal is to frustrate the guy. which i can also respect

Mtv can do whatever it wants because it is obviously a powerhouse. Which, congratulations on being a powerhouse.
Problem being that it has a lot control over the music industry and absolutely no interest in exposing innovative or daring music. Yet again and again it has marketing campaigns that suggest it is innovative or has some heart or soul invested in meaningful music.
I would hate Mtv if I knew anyone that I respected that took it seriously or looked to it for new music, luckily I don't.
I think it is an incredible shame what mainstream music has become, almost sickening. There exists plenty of beautiful and daring music under the radar of Mtv, and it exists and lives longer because it is not on Mtv, which can turn an artist into a commodity and those die quick.
Probably did not want this kind of answer but I had an urge. Whoops!

MTV, in terms of music, sucks, but the shows are many peoples' guilty pleasure (probably not even guilty, but using that sort of concept) and people will continue watching it because it's.....MTV.

In London there was an on-demand tv thing called Homechoice. They let you sculpt your own music channel. Tis the way forward.

I was watching some show on there the other night where a guy was quizzing 2 girls that he may want to date, but he was wearing and ear piece and everything that was said was being put thru lie detection software and the guy was being told when he was being lied to.
This drivel worries me about what the hell younger people are watching today. It was the equivelent to intellectual jello. It made me want to grad the people on the show and shout “what the hell is wrong with you?!?!?!”

that plastic surgery program is probably the sickest thing i have ever heard of television wise.... never saw it though

mtv does for the 13-17 crowd what playboy, hustler do for the 18+ crowd
objectify people sexually
- bunnicula0
music television....
yet there are no more music videos played on it anymore, you have to watch mtv2 or mtvU to get at least an hour of videos.

MTV ruins young peoples perceptions of reality.

It is good because its mindless television. Sole entertainment and totally ambiguous. Now its not legitimately good or anything... not like you're serious about it but if I am feeling lazy or if I just want to be entertained I can always count on some teeny bopper show to do it for me on MTV. Keep in mind I am 20 years old and suffer sever ADHD.
Uhhh...

In October I want to the AIGA Gain conference and got to visit the MTV studios.
It was the worst experience ever. The creative director and his crew just walked into a meeting room and just started rambling. He was totally unprofessional and just puked on us for like an hour. I felt sorry for his crew because he was a total dumbass. The studios were shitty. Low lit cramped with no sense of style. I got total bad vibes from the designers in that they hate working there but do just because it is MTV, and it's in New York.
This visit may me very glad that I don't work for MTV. I hope they go bankrupt and Viacom crumbles.

This is brilliant insight. Thank you :)
