They've gone back for seconds:

And what ticks me off is that we're using AC130's which are decidedly NOT helicopters, yet the writer of the piece calls them helicopter gunships.
Journalists are fucking morons. Does this look like a fucking helicopter?

reminds me of former Empires, now completely innocent of the mess they created in the first place.

formerly known as the Somali Democratic Republic.
formerly? I didn't know that it changed.
I love how these African countries call themselves "Democratic". Much like the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) who have a coup d'état every other year.
Yeahhhhh right.
The SDC. Hmmm sounds like an STD to me.

//it has nothing to do at all with the shit system the colonial powers set up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Som…
"The Somali War of Colonial Resistance (1898-1920) was led by Somali poet, scholar and statesman, Mohammed Abdullah Hassan. The war ended with the RAF's bombing of the Sayid's fort, with massive loss of civilian and military life on the Somali side."
Ooo the irony!?

although it's surprising, because one thing I learned from my days in Africa, the countries the British, Dutch and Germans colonized have infrastructure today and less fighting. The countries the Belgians, French, Portuguese and Italians colonized are generally fucked up beyond belief.

The US should liberate Lichtenstein, just so it doesn't look like we always are bombing brown peeps.

I wish the right people could "get what they deserve", but taking a pro-terrorist stand only kills civilians.
Granted some of those people voted for Bush and have some blood on their hands, but Bush is the real criminal here and Congress is a direct accomplice.
We finally get what we thought were the scum out of Congress only to have the "good guys" debating whether they should let Bush escalate in Iraq again.
What did we vote for?
- mrdobolina0
bush can do whatever he wants with troops that are already deployed.
- mrdobolina0
if they cut funding to the war, he can appropriate money from veterans affairs and continue the war.
so the real loser are the returning vets, if bush took that route.
It's a tricky situation. But bush is interested in adding more troops to make this war another presidents problem in 2009.

that plane is awesome
I hate that it kills people
but it's to be feared

ever notice how much you hear bush talking about his "legacy".
I am pretty old and I never remember any other President so publicly worried about how he is going to appear in history books.
- CyBrain0
How he'll be remembered:
Didn't remember Viet Nam.
Didn't remember Watergate, but it didn't matter. No one is interested in holding a president accountable for anything.
I won't pursue this list. I have too much work today.

In Somalia, local warlords and the Ethiopian government have used the terrorist card to justify violent pursuit of political and strategic goals and to exclude or eliminate their political enemies. With Islamism now the dominant (but to the west unacceptable) political force in Somalia, the war on terror makes peaceful resolution of the two decade old Somali crisis even more difficult to achieve.
