So, I just plugged my 30g video ipod in and had iTunes update the software like it wanted to. Now it just has the black screen with the apple and goes click click and i hear the drive spin down over and over again. What can I do!?

Nevermind, found out how to put it in disk mode and get it "restored"

you should share your new found knowledge, i doubt you'll be the only one suffering from this

There's a thing on the apple site about this. Had same problem a few weeks ago. Go to "Support"

usually resetting does it.

I can't even get my new ipod to fuckin mount!

mine gets like that sometimes on the mac jevad, especially after unplugging it without ejecting first. usually restarting the computer helps

My old 30 gb ipod was playing up recently - lcd screen freezing, suddenly stopping working. Took it to an apple dealer over here who listened to it (the machine - not the headphones) promptly gave it a whack on the side and said that should do it. Turned out to be a sticking hard disk. Been fine ever since.
fyi - foobar is actually spelt fubar.
