This is my first post.. although I've been reading NT for a while..
I am interviewing for a new job and I have two places that are not returning calls or emails. I thought the interviews went fairly well.. Is this a sign? Was I not hired? or should I keep bugging them until I get an answer? Whatever happened to letting people know if they are hired or not?? Has anyone had a similar experience??

i get that from women i date. they never return my calls or emails.

keep bugging them, why not?
I got a job 3 months after interviewing with the company once.
Lots of times they interview people and then HR sits on them for a month or so.

Welcome to the NT.
Keep your head down, your eyes open, and your wits sharp and all pointy like.
I see you're already making a name for yourself with the excessive use of punctuation!!!???

when was the interview?

"Rejected???"
Probably.
"This is my first post.. although I've been reading NT for a while.."
Long time listener, first time caller kinda thing then, eh?
"I am interviewing for a new job and I have two places that are not returning calls or emails. I thought the interviews went fairly well.. Is this a sign?"
Signs point to yes.
"Was I not hired?"
Sounds about right.
"...or should I keep bugging them until I get an answer?"
Yes. Repeatedly. And let us know how they go.
"Whatever happened to letting people know if they are hired or not??"
What are you, Ms. manners? It's the cut throat 21st century out there boy.
"Has anyone had a similar experience??"
Nope. You're alone. Totally alone.

I hear tkmeister is interviewing dancers for his pants party. You're both in NY right?

NEVER Bug.
Always follow-up.
You should have had some indication of how long they were intending to interview for, so use that as a guide - follow up towards the end of the duration. If they made no such indication, you should call to find out what their plans are, then call towards the end of their hire period. once that's done, call every week or so - be keen, but casual. Consistent, not insistent.
Unless you're dealing with an agency, in which case it's probably a good to bug to a degree.

you should have sent them a thank you for interviewing me card .. if so that's another excuse to call .. make sure they got it and ask how the process is going? have they found someone or are they still interviewing.
- Nairn0
In future, I'll actually read the question.
If they're not returning your calls at all, they're probably pretty shitty.
Are you contacting HR/person responsible - or going through switchboard?
- k0na_an0k0
I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Most places interview a number of people but can only see 2-3 per day. If they have 20 people to interview it takes a while.
Some places I never heard back from for 3-4 weeks. Then they offered me the job.
I'm more interested in your interviewer style.
After the interview do you send a 'thank you' email to the person who interviewed you? If so, mention in the email that you'll be sending another one in a week to 'check back in'. It shows interest and shows you really care about the potential job.
You have some nice work in your potfolio but maybe.... corporate it up a bit?
I have two portfolios. One for play, one for business. They are completely opposite.
Keep your chin up. You'll find something.
And welcome.

I had an interview with a company in SF, then they called me back for a second.
then I never heard from them again.

i feel rejected by posting in this thread and not getting an answer back.
im putting you on ignore, you are an nt spammer and you wont get the job because of this.
j/k welcome to NT.
- jaimeboyle0
Thanks for all the feedback, especially the career change advice to become a dancer.. nice.
I sent all the appropriate thank you letters & emails. I'm careful not to sound desparate and/or annoying. Both interviews were about a month ago. SO, we'll see what happens.
- mpfree0
let me be the first person to moon
(___|___)
the people that rejected you!!!
- tkmeister0
maybe the HR/creative recruiter is being stupid. i once got an email from them saying they wanted to have me back to meet a few more people and then didn't get back to me forever.
it happens.
- jaimeboyle0
I am certainly not an NT spammer....
- tkmeister0
so...
would you consider becoming a dancer for me? i am not a creep or anything. i promise.
- jaimeboyle0
I think I'll stick to designing. but thanks ;)
