IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET SCREWED BY THE NEXT NATIONAL POWER GRID SURGE OR GET FUCKED BY YOUR WINDOWS/MAC OS'S MONTHLY CRASH CYCLE THEN IT'S TIME TO MAKE SOME BACK UPS OF:

• YOUR PHOTOS
• YOUR EMAILS
• YOUR ACCOUNTS
• YOUR PASSWORDS
• YOUR PORN
• YOUR MP3s
• YOUR MOVIES
• YOUR BROWSER LINKS
• YOUR UNPUBLISHED NOVEL
• YOUR PORTFOLIO
• AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN MAKE A COPY OF...
While you're all at it, give your hard drive a once over with a systems utilities programme to work out any bugs/redundant viruses, etc.
Don't forget, if you don't regularly back up your data, you're the only one to blame so don't post any whiny requests for any data retrieval services/programmes.

backing up Mail... lots of ways...
- Use IMAP accounts instead of POP, so you just synch it all down from the server again if a drive dies/computer gets stolen/blows up......
- Use .Mac to synch mail across multiple Macs
- backup Mail accounts and other stuff using .Mac and Backup.
- backup your user > Library >Mail folder
- backup your whole home folder
- backup your whole Users folder
- backup the whole drive

honest, what if you take your old hard drive with about 7 years of work on it out of your computer and give it to your little brother to stash somewhere safe while you're out of the country and he promptly loses it? what do you do in that case? suggestions erring toward violent action are entirely valid...

I've had 2 harddrives (and 1 whole computer) fry in the past 2 years here at work.
They got me some backup thing from:
Like ... I don't know 5 months ago, haha.
I guess I'll see what it's all about.
(I also like how they have Pete Townshend giving a quote about how great their products are, "My harddrive blew up and I almost thought I lost my kiddie pr0n collection. Good thing for CMS Products!!")
