i've seen a million design problems solved with a crown and i just think it's cheap and easy.
brainstorm on the idea of decor .. what does it look like? sketch .. look past the obvious choice. what about their product is unique? what can i get there that i can't get elsewhere?
would you like it if i branded you as a pixel? doubtful .. you've got more to you than that. give them some meaning and a way to stand apart from their competition.

maybe along the lines of "your home is your castle". might start you thinking...

lol Snuggs, so true.
Kidswift, its a start up company for my wife actually.
She wants to do somthing from home and sell the sort of things we both like. Ideally it will appeal to both hipsters in apartments and peeps with kids out in the burbs.travisbarto, good observation. I will make that change. Thanks

house slippers, fireplace/mantel, tobacco pipe, come to mind. though, i tend to be attracted to tongue-in-cheeck images.
has the client seen these?

(Nov 28 06, 08:11)These are the 3 she liked best out of 9 designs.
I will persuade her to consider some more, early days still. We haven't got any funding through yet.
My fav was with a hand drawn Didoni all in caps.

If its a business your Wife is setting up of products she likes to sell to others of the same taste then perhaps I would be inclined to make it a little more personal / real. As in get away from the big brand feel and look for something that helps make a connection or puts people on the same level if that is indeed what your trying to trade on.
I'm not bagging ya out as you obviously have the skills and the creativity but I would go back to the drawring board and come up with some thing that is perhaps no so stand offiish if ya get me... ;P

Thanks kidswift, I appreciate your help. I'll be pondering on these points tonight.
I'll post some more ideas as the project develops.

put the wife to work - do a nice type logo and get her to trace it in pencil ;P

no 1 but redraw it all yourself.
- Concrete0
I did draw it all my self, except the circle which I'm about to change.

No stress concrete, I actually agree kinda with Kelpi sit down with the Wifey and a bottle of wine and look through brands you buy or perhaps relate to and why, have a look at more personal smaller brands that appeal to peeps.....
And Roberts your fathers brother!
- mr_snuggles0
and remind her of your british heritage so it should just be set in helvetica...
- vespa0
hand draw it all yourself i mean. circle, font (but not exactly the same cos that would be a rip) and crown... just the hand-drawn circle would give it a million times more sublety.

no crown.
i really think the middle one is closest to clothing branding. it looks sort of like a tag on a tshirt, or any garment reallly. the little pointed flaggy things on it though makes it look like a flag.
#2!
