heh - don't get me wrong, I love Autechre etc, I just don't think that other people would classify it as 'ambient' - Eno is probably closer to most people's ideal.
(When Confield first came out, I actually took it back to HMV and swapped it - the guy could tell by the look on my face that I genuinely wasn't enjoying it. Thankfully, a few listens to the mp3s I'd made later swayed me back around - but boy, there was some learning curve on that album!)

(Nov 28 06, 07:36)it's a bit like conceptual art in that regard, especially when you get into generative music. i don't listen to a lot of ambient music anymore, yokota is great, the old eno stuff is great, schnauss is great.
