bon afternoon, does anyone use adsense or is it a dirty word? I'm giving it a go to see what happens, I've a feeling I won't earn a million but hey. Any advice is good, cheers, craig.

blimey you've really gone for it!
the only decent money to be made is from people that need to pay for advertising for stuff that isn't instantly obtainable from the internet... sounds obvious i guess... but in my experience travel sites get more back that graphics sites... purely coz the internet is saturated with all that.

Now your site is 50% advertising.
Advertising which you have little control over.
Is that a good thing?

true, I've only had it on for a few hours, just seeing how it goes really. I'm just after peoples experiences of using it whether they be good or bad. You do have an element of control but only a very small one, in that you can block the sites you don't want advertised. That would take some time though I guess!!

Take a look at the PBS, scroll all the way down.
Newstoday.com is using AdSense.
Like anything, if you get a lot of hits on your site, the chances of you making more money are higher.
AdSense isn't AdWords. AdWords users place adverts using AdSense.

If you were getting a shitload of hits, you'd want to contact a group like IndustryBrains.com to sell your virtual real estate.
other groups do the same. you can make serious money, but you have to verfiy to those groups that you're worth it.
it's a risk on their part too.

yes I forgot that, hmm must be ok then I guess! I realise adsense and adwords differ, same with adhesion and ad hoc, both wildly different things!

I kind of associate Google adsense with cheapie off-the-shelf content aggregating blogs etc.

eh, you know, you can make money with it. I know people doing well with it.
don't worry, once I get my lazy fucking arse off the couch I'm planning on doing it with http://www.loopkit.com making all of my loops FREEBIES. I still get close to 400 uniques per day off of 24 free stinking loops.
we're putting it in here at work http://lldn.timesys.com at the top for Linux developers
one can only try :)

we use adsense on http://www.sandiegopunk.com/ - which gets a decent amount of traffic. At first it was making over $100 a month, but now its less than half that because the regular visitors have gotten wise to the ads.

that's pretty nifty nocomply. I barely recognized that AdSense campaign
