anyone got some good tricks or ideas on how to make shit video look like good shit video and make some stylish straight up video fx...fuzz, static, noise, interferance...?
right now i'm playing with a few presets in AFX namely Noise/Bad TV 3 - weak and BAD TV 2 - old...combinations of venitian blinds, wave, noise etc.

if those are from tinderbox, they should do everything you're looking for. i'm not at my work machine right now so i can't tell you exactly what to do, but just mess with the sliders, look for one to control ghosting. i'll check this thread later today when i'm able to open up AE.

yeah cool, i got a bunch of static that we recorded and i'll be doing some more with vhs tapes but ultimatly i need some more control and something that will be used in combo with regular footage of a guy in an apartment...quick fuzzes, waves, blurs layered with the fuzz is working alright

play it through a TV, rerecord the footage thats playing. Then use this to intercut and overlay with.
Also, dub copies on to VHS, leave in the sun, then capture.
trust me - 100x better then any filters.

yeah I'm on that, I got an old vhs deck that makes all sorts of crazy effects during playback and probably use a magnet on the tape too...why leave it in the sun?

sun warps/messes with the tape, magnet could work too, never thought of that - may wipe it though.
