He was in a contest called Last Boy standing and it's probably what initially made his head so big. Lots of tweens fawning over him.

I remember that "Last Boy Standing" competition. Derek was my favorite, I kept the articles of him for years. Now he looks totally different... I thought of him today because I was licking batteries to see if it actually works. I had no idea he was all successful now. that also makes me feel badly for all these years later, I am high all day still reading magazines at my mother's house. ffffff
