I'm probably late on this, but anyone see the new commercials for Lexus, talking about the car parks itself?
Is this true? Anyone see it in action?

that technology has been out in japan for years... where you been, young man?

Yeah, according to the commercial it's the car that 'virtually' parks itself. Hmmmm...

I was just curious about it. Thanks.

i saw a video on motortrend i think.
it took 4 guys 15 minutes to try and figure it out - they still couldn't do it.

Ich spreche nicht deutsch (i think), but I think it says:
'you are a complete tool if you are able to afford this vehicle, but are unable to park it'

It just makes people lazy.

does it also stop kids/fat people from opening the doors too fast and denting the car next to it?

Looks fine as long as you have three car lengths to park in. Pffft.

when our cities are over-populated and we have 50 story parking garages - I like the idea of a self parking car....
It's a good start, I like the idea of lexus putting this out there.... what we need though is some self powered transmitters embbeded in all the roads ..... forget self parking... how about SELF DRIVING?
- Soler0
how about, no driving?

soler... I hope that was a joke :) ...
... as for the folks saying 'lazy'... I disagree... it's one step in technology that makes difficult things 'easier'...
... it's also a part of that 'future' that so many folks have been complaining about... you know that threadless shirt:

i bet a local dealer would have it to demonstrate. When it selfparks, freak out and say it's the work of the devil.

----------------------virtually = At the touch of a button, the available Advanced Parking Guidance System [1] can parallel park the LS or back into a parking space (not shown) with just a little brake work by the driver. First, position the LS parallel and in front of the parking space, then use the navigation screen to select the parallel park icon. After pressing the OK button on the screen, simply remove your hands from the steering wheel and regulate the vehicle’s speed by using the brake. [2]
by the time this fuckin drawn out process is done, I would have done "manually" parallel parked my F150 crew cab and already be pissing on the nearest dumpster.

If you can afford that car, you can afford to valet.
