Shari,
I’m trying to figure out timing and pricing on the identity work. Since we haven’t worked together, I thought I should kind of spell out my expectations and then ask for timeframes/estimates from you to meet them.I like to see a slew of identity options. Normally, I see between 5 and 10 to cull it down to 3 that we present to a client. Often, we’ll need to tweak between the initial logos and the final 3 (typeface or colors etc). For presentation, I like to present the logo large in color(s) and small in black and white on the same page. Allow for another round of tweaking between presentation and a final approval of the logo.
After they choose the logo, we’ll lay out the stationery and business card. We will want to show 2-3 layout options at this stage, too. Allow one round of tweaking after this presentation. Other potential logo uses we may need layouts for include: truck signage, building signage, shirt signage and a logo for printing on their estimates/invoices.
So, I need estimates for:
Logo development (please include how long from brief to first presentation based in info above)
Stationery/biz card development (please include timing from logo selection to first presentation based on info above)
Ancillary logo uses

depends on size of client's company. I'd say at least 2k for the logo dev. and another 2k for id package. plus additional hourly afer X many hours

5k is what I would ask for the hole package.

seems a little high

hey, it's all relative. if you figure that a "slew" of designs and your time is worth less, then charge less

lol @ shirt signage
what price should i state to secure the job?

what kind of client?

maybe figure out your day rate. And figure, on average, a day each to come up and make presentable the original 3-4 that you'll show. Factor a day for the original 10 and the last day to finalize what they choose. So whats that 5 days.
maybe?

really depends on the industry. if their reveue's over $1m i'd say charge 5% which works out roughly to 50k for every 1m they bring in. if it's a smaller company, the math is a little different. if it's through a third party, then it get's even fuzzier.
chances are your liason already knows the budget and has been paid a portion of it. do some investigation and find out as much about the company as you can. your estimate will probably have to come in a little low if the third party's taking a chunk already.

50k?

i lost the last identity project proposal because i charged too much and i'd really like to work on this so i may go a little low and hope it becomes a book piece.

50k!
LOL!

supply of initial 5 concepts including MINOR tweaking: 3 days
Stationery x 2 routes: 2 days including 1 round minor tweaks
Additional logo application additional
now for a small small company you could shave a day or so off that, for a bigger organisation you could add some on. The client sounds pretty on the ball about ammends etc.

One million dollars!
murrahahahahaha
*looks around mischievously

just calculate the amount of time you put into it. like what rasko said. multiply that with your hourly rate.
just saying 50k per one million earned by a company just makes no fucking sense. i am sorry.
it's like the bakery charging you ten times the normal price for a loaf of bread just because you earn more.
