More specifically, fonts. The wife doesn't enjoy my typography spotting in public.
Otherwise she's jealous of my job.

My fiance is a designer too.. and ya, we run into "name that font" alot..
She works from home, and I go to the office, so it works out pretty well...

my ex wife is a designer, just one of the many reasons we're not together anymore.. I figured if anyone would understand the late hours and constant work on the brain lifestyle, it would be another designer... niet zo....

my wife loves what i do. she doesn't always understand the late night/long hours of freelance now and then on the weekends but really is interested in what i do.
and she thinks i'm a freak when i point out fonts in public, or, like at the movies last saturday when a trailer ended and showed the movie title i said aloud 'KERNING.... KERRRRRRNING'
only a few people in the theater laughed.

(Nov 8 06, 08:40)She's right, everything in design should be justfiable with a reason, if she asks why, you should be able to answer. That's the whole point of design. If you can't back up your work then start thinking more.
Kona I know what you mean, my gf has gotten pretty good at noticing things like kerning and she can now spot a baskerville lowercase g. She no longer uses arial at work either!

I have had girlfriends but not since I have been working properly, I have not had the time and have avoided it as I knew I would piss them off due to my obsessive approach to jobs, I am now wanting to be with someone as I have more time to spend with people and would like to share my life with someone special. I hope to find a girl who would put up with me and that I can trick into sleeping with me :D

I know where you're coming from...I mean...psychologists tend to be more inquisitive in the relationships which sometimes causes the partner to get frustrated and believe that they are just being analyzed by the psychologist.
Maybe you should look at yourself first...
