Xyron machine, takes a bit of getting use to and then is equally annoying when you are up against it!

You can get some foamcore board that has an adhesive side. You just peel away the plastic cover sheet and lay your print-outs down and get busy with the roller.

you could perhaps try asking your clients to use their imagination and forego the mock-ups altogether!

try duo-tac, which are large sheets of basically double-sided tape/film, which is archival.
There is also a product I cant remeber the name of in which there are sheets of little dots of adhesizve. you burnish the dots onto your paper then remove the film on the other side and you can apply it. archival as well.
