this is driving me crazy. i have a multiline text box in flash that scrolls. every time i go into the flash file in order to change something, the text box extends all the way in order to fit all of the type. then, i can't get it to scale at times. i need to scale the box, not all the type. any suggestions? thanks

use actionscipt to set the height of the textBox.
myTextBox._height = 400

Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression. Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics.

thanks for the resposne, but i can't get that to work. when i try to scale the box on the stage, sometimes i get a white box in the bottom corner which scales everything, but when i get the black box, then i can scale the box around teh text. don't know why sometimes i get it and other times i don't.

is that in flash 8? if so that's weird
try double clicking inside the text box and then scaling it ... this should not scale the text

yeam using mx2004. i think maybe just double clicking might be the trick. i don't know. why the white box and the black box? why not just the black box? huh?

well, i suppose one indicates that you are scaling the box itself and not the type, while the other indicates that you will be scaling the type if you scale the box

exactly.... but i can't figure out why sometimes i get one and not the other. the white scales the text and box, the black allows me to scale the box around the text. i just end up clicking in and out until the black one shows up. there must be an easier way. but, thanks for the help.
