looking for reference .. got any? or can you recommend any art books for inspiration?

Depends on what kind of psychedelia. 60's era or contemporary. As a fan of contemporary I would reccomend circling in with Tim Leary (an obvious one, and representative of all eras), look into the site "disinformation.com", the band Acid Mothers Temple, and see where that leads. Oh, and author Douglas Rushkoff.
Interesting thing about contemporary psychadelia is that it really bleeds into other things, like various metaphysics, magick, leftist literature etc.
Oh, and Robert Anton Wilson without a doubt.

Also look into an artist named Paul Laffoley. Really far out work. It's been commented more than once that he may have actually invented a new type of art.

also i believe pschedelia sort of borrowed from the art nouveau movement.just take some lsd, hah
