What is the best way to get a flash swf file to an hdtv viewable video. I assume it has to be put at an aspect ratio that is hdtv compatible and then you will have to use a screen capture app to capture the flash. Is there anything else I need to consider? What is the exact pixel size I need? Anyhow help would be greatly appreciated!

not sure about the new flash version but don't use any scripted animation. it may not export to QT.
please, someone tell me I'm wrong.

There are many different formats of HD. 1080i, 1080p, and 720p. Do you know which one you are working in?

If you emebed your flash movie in director, you can still export an actionscripted flash movie to quicktime.

good to know, where were you 2 years ago?

All HD formats are square pxl. 1080p is 23.98 fps (1920x1080), 1080i (1920x1080) at 59.94 fields per second and 720p (1280x720) at 59.94 fps.

def don't use any scripting, else QT won't recognize and it only holds limited tracks/layers. Get your porportions right and you might want to open in QT save out and open in FCP HD and check it from there. hope that helps.

This is actually a web demo that now needs to be put on dvd to show on a flat screen. It does have scripted animation and quite a few flv files dynamically loaded in. Thats the main reason why I first suggested a video screen capture software. There will definitely be some quality issues since the flv files are already compressed and I have no way of getting the source files for those. I have gone the director route before and that worked pretty well but so has a screen capture app. Director on quicktime export actually just screencaps the flash frame per frame anyhow. Any one know what specs I should do this at for the flat screen?

dvd is not hdtv, and the pixels are rectangular and not squae. if you need it to play on a standard dvd on a widescreen, all you need to do is keep in mind the aspect ration of the television.

sorry Johndiggity I guess I was not clear on the dvd part. It would be data on dvd not playing like a vob file on dvd. I am needing to shoot out a mov or avi file that will be copied to a dvd.

Can you hook up your PC to the screen and just play the SWF?
Screen capturing is probably the safest for getting what you want but you'll need a super-hot computer to capture it well without dropped frames.
