Is it possible to mask dynamically created movie clips?
Can you duplicate a bunch of snow flakes to be masked out by a snow globe shape? (my situation)
I've tried to mask the original movie clip on stage with mask on a layer and I've tried using setMask.
No luck so far.

you need to dynamically create a mask on the satge as well
look up "setMask"

try having a main movie loading in a sub movie (with the snow in it).
if that dont work then try loading into levels maybe?

oh you said you tried using setMask.
well, my guess is that you have the setMask targets wrong

i would just use the quick workaround of setting the mask depth to like 1000 or something

23kon has another workaround idea
create a movieclip on the stage and mask that. then load all of your snowflaskes into said masked movieclip

I'm going to try this first. I'm sure I'll be back. This one is tricky.

I don't know why the easiest solution eludes me sometimes.

Create a blank container mc on the stage...this.createEmptyMovieCli... masking mc and masked mc into blank container mc. setMask masking mc to masked mc.
Duplicate blank container mc (*which is not blank anymore).
Voila :)
