(Oct 23 06, 06:19)are you coming for a beer soon?

What about Yanks emigrating there? I'm thinking of getting out of the US and Ireland is on my shortlist bc a) I'm of Irish descent, b) looks like an awesome country, good people, economy, etc. c) You can hold dual passports if you get citizenship.
Anyone living in Ireland got any advice?
- ********0
they have a block on YouTube. so I would advice against moving there Blue1

Every sodding American claims to be of "Irish descent".
If I was them and you turned up touting that shite, I'd fucking shoot you on the spot.
- rafalski0
The Irish often include tens of millions of Americans when talking about their population, so there should be no big surprise when they actually arrive.

heh. it's going to be amusing this holiday season. my mum's bringing her irish-american bf over to meet my irish bf. there might be a sidelong glance or two, but i don't think blood will be shed...

Haha..in the area of the suburbs of NYC where I grew up there were lots of Irish expats doing trades/manual labor etc. a decade ago - carpenters, electricians, etc.. They all went back to Ireland a few years ago when the economy picked up over there. Working with them when I was i college made me think living there would be pretty cool

Yes, but just because your great grand daddy ploughed fields there decades ago doesn't make you Irish, and it doesn't give you any right to go there and adopt a culture.
- TheBlueOne0
Who the fuck said anything about adopting the culture? I'm a freaking New Yorker and proud of that. Just would like to move there..and having an Irish surname and first name as I do might just make things a little easier than say having a polish name, you know that's all I am saying.

What's in a name?
- TheBlueOne0
Lots of things actually..give a wrong name in Baghdad and get a bullet in the head...
Geez moth, all I said was that Ireland looks like anice place to live and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it...why you getting all up in da grill?

The Irish is the new Italians

It's ridiculous. None of you ever stand up and say "Oh Britain! I've such an affinity with the place... I'm 1/100th Irish!"
Why do you all want to go live in Ireland? So you can wander around the cliffs looking wistfully at the fucking freezing, pouring rain and then go a pub, talk loudly, and drink guinness and pretend that you like it?It only bothers me because I hear it so much. You can't ALL have possibly come from Irish descent. It's not possible!
Aghgh!

I've hung out ith Irish people. I've hung out with English people. I think I would prefer to live in Ireland.
