well my bvro has just bought a new place near the foot of Arthurs Seat, the last place he went for was a bungalow in the burbs, offers over 105, he thought about bidding 148, then cut that back to 133.
Place went for 158 :/

in fact, rubbish - add 100 to those figures, the place he got in the end cost him 220 odds

i worry about the people who work in the council services here in edinburgh. how can they afford to buy a flat when property developers push the prices up?
the developers should have a responsibility to house low income residents as well as well as the people who are rich and stupid enough to buy these flats.
i find these new developments a joke, pay 1/4 million for a 'lifestyle' appartment that has paper thin walls, and has an anual charge for parking space on your own property.

derm, by law, new developers have to provide a certain percentage of flats in each new development for 'affordable housing' that are given/sold to the local council for that purpose.
the bad thing about this is that some developments mix up all the apartments, so in theory you may end up paying £220,000 for a nice 2 bedroom place and your nextdoor neighbour has got exactly the same flat but they paid half the price or get it free from the council on benefits. i think you'd be pretty pissed off at paying 220 thinking you were going to be in an exclusive development and potentially having some 'rough' neighbours (not that everyone on benefits is rough likes, but u know what i mean).
but Qmile development has it sussed in this sense. theyve kept the affordable housing to one block and its way in the corner of the development lol.
