don't get me wrong i do like it (not that that means much) but just didn't have the wow of the other one, this is probably as its a follow up, and also as others said there was too much build up

bit dissapointed with the overall grade of it... some crushed blacks and even a vignette around the edges would have held it together a bit better imo,,,,
agree with the clown comments - def. after thought [ wonder if it was Glazer himself dressed up??? ]

pfffuuu its not even real blood!!

strange you all dont seem so keen on this. I absolutely love it! and I love the clown. I think this ad feels extremely brithish, and the tie in with clockwork orange only helps to boost this even further.

I think the clown was put in to replace the frog!!

I think this ad feels extremely british...

(Oct 17 06, 04:55)i agree with Kiko but i have to say i was expecting a lot more from this advert from all the anticipation.
does make something beautiful out of a grubby area of glasgow though.im gonna frame-by-frame the vid to get a laugh at some of the graffiti in the stairwell. u just know its going to be stuff like "Sheryl is a slag" . wonder if theres any subliminal stuff or product placement of graffiti in that scene.....
- 23kon0
... the only readable graffiti in the stairwell is "DIV". think the rest has been scrubbed-off on the scene or made illigible in production.
booo!

I've loved Glazer since 'Street spirit' i got to say though that he needs to get over his Stanley Kubrick fixation - particularly as he's now pushing to be a player in Hollywood. The music, the clown (I'm sure it would have been shot on Thamesmead housing estate if possible). Seems to me that the Creatives got a little star struck and let Glazer do a Kubrick Homage...again.
End shot is beautiful in my opinion.

2 things...
- most heavy handed, masturbatory ad i've seen in ages.
- and, this is an ad for a fucking TV? paint to sell the quality of TV color?
i would suggest more time in the conception / development phases than the production phase.

In-camera is the new cgi.
There's no real Kubrick reference here. He was not the first person to put Rossini in a film.
- kelpie0
Glazers whole style is a Kubrick reference
- soda0
pretty underwhelming really, considering the hype...
- babaganush0
No real Kubick reference? The clown may as well have a white cod piece and a truncheon - again, the housing estate may as well be Thamesmead (Clockwork Orange) - The music may not have been used first by Kubrick but 9/10 people into popular film would place it as Kubrick...I even bet there was a dropped shot of paint spilling through an elevator a la The Shining...I'd personally put that at quite a lot of Kubrick reference.
- babaganush0
I also think there's a lot more CG than they'd like you to believe - particularly compared to ...balls!
- harlequino0
Eh...maybe. Maybe not. I really don't see it. A clown and some paint doesn't equal Clockwork Orange or The Shining to me. We see what we want I guess. Honestly I feel more resonance with other things I've seen.
9/10 people recognizing The Theiving Magpie by Rossini from a Kubrick film just means an unfortunate knowledge of classical music.
Whatev...

I'm interested and baffled that you see know Kubrick influence...I mean unless you expect stills from the film to be read as 'influence'...like it or not i believe more people will recognize this music by proxy from a Kubrick film because it is translated into popular cinema - Kubrick being the arty end of this, Glazer beingthe arty end of commercials direction. Of course your opinion is valid I just don't get how you fail to recognize any Kubrick influence (no matter how hackneyed or disguised).
Disclaimer: This email contains no direct reference to Stanley Kubrick

not impressed.
i still watch the ball one sometimes (and like 4 times in a row the first time i saw it). i don't really need to see this more than twice.
i'd be less disappointed if it wasn't preceded by so much hype.
but like someone else said, still better than almost all other ads.
- babaganush0
skelly, where do YOU stand on the influenced/not influenced by Kubrick hot topic!?
