she thinks i'm choosing 'other work' over her because I don't want to help her or something...
... and that just blows my mind - because that's all I ever do is help her...
... I seriously am going to bounce my rent from last month if I don't get paid by a client today... I'm suprised my phone hasn't been shut off yet..
... and did I mention I'm shitty w/money? :) That's beside the point really, but a valid addition to the story.
Truth is - I'm broke and it's not because of lack of work... but just shitty personal circumstances... so I gotta keep producing right now and NOT dicking around w/non paying gigs until I get out of this poop hole...
... grr.

She does sound like a nutter though and that email was all over the shop.
If you really need the money say you will do some stuff for her next week. Get a retainer/advance, draw up a contract and charge through the nose.
