Mac Pro or Powerbook??

I need to get a Mac this weekend and I can't decide what to get. I've been building my own PCs for years. I have a 3ghz pc and all the software I need and I also have an old Compaq laptop that's good enough to surf wireless and do email etc on trips. I need the Mac for upcoming client web work and honestly, I'm coming to like my G5 at work. So which do I get? The base model 15" notebook with 2gb of ram or the base 2.66 tower and pimp it out with aftermarket ram in a few months when the check comes in?

I think it just comes down to what would you suit you best depending on what you are going to use it for. The mac pro in my opinion is a nicer machine, but if your going to want to take it outside or use it on the toilet etc then obviously a notebook would be best.
Theyre both powerful machines, I think the decision is on you

i do video editing, post production, animation but also regular design.
porgrams that run smoothe as hell

Everything moving forward is being made for the macbook, including the new photoshop coming in 07

just out of curiousity: why do you need a mac? seems silly considering you have a 3ghz pc machine, all software, that could do all web-based work surely.

ah, well that makes sense.
I would say if you are doing basic things, even photoshop a macbook is fine for processor etc. The good thing about the macbook pro is the better video card and resolution.
Also... dont buy a macbook pro yet. They are upgrading the processors in the next 2 weeks to the Core 2 Duo. right now they have the Core Duo.
This might be another reason to lean toward the pro, because I am sure they will only update the pro with the 2 duo and not the macbook.

So pretty much you want to know if you should get a macbook pro or a mac pro tower thing.
Well.. the tower currently is faster, but like I said before... if you can wait ... wait for the thew processor for the macbook pro... core 2 duo. If you are going to do reallllly heavy video editing, then I would say the tower, but everything else, the macbookpro, especially with these new Duo chips.
Photoshop currently doesnt run much faster on both of these since it runs in emulation mode. but when photoshop is updated next year, it will smokeeee..
