apparently a poo-flinging match...although I'm not sure I see the point in any retaliation...
- kelpie0
yeah, true, Vespa would destroy you
- mr_snuggles0
indeed...
- vespa0
hang on. i aint flinging any poo. you're just steaming in it boyo.
the ™ is a bit bloody rich!!
- mr_snuggles0
hmmm, I guess you're right...
it seemed funnier 2+ years ago, I guess it's me that sucks, maybe I should start a thread and see if people on NT agree or not, so I can finally have some rest over the issue...
- vespa0
it doesn't really matter.
- mr_snuggles0
suppose..
anyways, sorry rtl3 for ruining your thread...
I guess you don't really suck, I'm just an ass looking for attention. But in my defense, it mostly stems from being an adopted, only-child whom happens to be a leo. I'm also dreadfully insecure, and personally, just rip-off other designers work in order to seem like I know what I'm doing...
blaze on young buck, best of luck... chin-up mate!

i'll take it as flattery snuggles.

Do some self-intiated work.

I quite liked the print work.
I would loose that flash loader/splash page though.
- paraselene0
honestly, i think if you put print work above interactive and the warts site at the bottom of your web list and get rid of the splash page thingmy you'll feel much better.
- kelpie0
I don't think it has anything at all to do with the quality of work you're showing - that portfolio will appeal to plenty of on-line agencies at least. I think you could do with a different site to show it though, and maybe better images of the work.

get pro-active and do your own projects in your own time.
if you want to get a job at a sexy agency then do some sexy work off your own back.
interviewers aint just looking for a nice portfolio, they are looking for a passion. an ideal employee is someone who LIVES design!
- mr_snuggles0
You'll not get a job at the 'sexy' agencies with this portfolio. sorry, but the quality and approach just aren't there.
I understand what yer saying with "The company I'm with doessn't do many sexy projects so it's hard to show my abilities." but this is where you need to shine and show your ability if you really do have it. This is what studio's are looking for... taking the ordinary clients and giving them extrordinary results. Now if it's internally that your great concepts are not being accepted and presented, than make sure you show your process and comp designs and explain the process a bit...
it's difficult and frustrating, but eventually something will work out, if it doesn't than you need to realistically look at your work compared to others and see where you need to be in terms of quality and if it's not in you, then maybe look at another career choice... Think about why you are in design in the first place. For many of us, it is our life, not just a career choice...
- kelpie0
I think that's quite unfair actually, the implication in your last sentence there, snuggles.
- mr_snuggles0
many vs most seems fair to me...
- paraselene0
i think that struggles has earned the right to be a bit of a fascist on a grim friday afternoon.
- kelpie0
fair enough, but I can sympathise with the guy on the 'no sexy clients' thing, personaly I gave up on the idea of working for one of the 'sexy' agencies years ago --
actually hang on, what the fuck am I talking about, I AM getting out of the industry.
carry on. ;)

maybe look at another career choice...

(Sep 29 06, 03:35)That's a bit harsh. Look again - there is nothing bad about this work! Cool jobs aren't better or worse. Companies need letterheads, and you can only get so funky with that shit.
I certainly dont think he needs a career change, just a lucky break I expect.
