In the OS 9 days you could print to file which would give you a postscript (.ps) file. Not sure how to get that now but you should be about to save as a PDF. What are you looking to do?

save as .eps and open in vector app and save again as .ps.
*unless* you have a RIP in which case do what deviceunseen said

Save it as an .eps and run it through Distiller.
An .eps is a postscript file.

he probably needs to distill using a special pdf setting rather than the default save to pdf which gives you a PDF version 1.5 with so many transparency issues it's really unprintable at least from illy or indesign... In in OS 10.4.7 when you print and the OS dialog takes over there's PDF button on the far left opposite the Print Button just toggle that button down to "save PDF as Postscript" then distill that .ps to your heart's content... low res, PDX1A ... Prinergy...whatever PDF settings you've configured into distiller.

if you save out a photoshop .eps don't flatten your text layers... either leave them as layers or convert them to shapes with color fills and on the eps save dialog box toggle the "incllude vector data" on. otherwhise photoshop will just flatten your type into the image and you'll get no linework elements just a flat raster eps which is no different than a tiff.

lol chz- and if he ain't got Distiller? : )
it don't come w/ CS2 no mo and 99% of peeps don't know how to use it anyway. while an .eps is a type of postscript file, it is a much different beast as it is 'encapsulated' (assuming you knew that since you keep pushing it) and this is app-dependent.... and *not* what a printer wants if they spec a particular raw .ps file.
but maybe yer way would work too....
any more pow-pow over there?
- chz0
He mentioned Distiller in his first post.
No more pow-pow... it all melted, we actually have an Indian summer goin on here, nice and sunny... more biking before shred starts. I hear Mt. Baker is getting pounded.

Yes indeed...

oh nice. i have never ridden there but always wanted to.
re: distiller- he said 'distill a file', not that he had Distiller. i did not take that to mean he wanted to know how to get it into Distiller, but how to distill a file to soemthing else. we are probably arguing semantics here.... ;)
