sellout is being sponsored by the ones you fought against, like Maccie D., or Coca C.
you get then drift..

Calling someone a sell-out is a way to make one's self feel better when they can't do something they like profitably.

The sellout factor i am referring to is the fact that he attacks Paris Hilton yet feels the need to invite Hollywood stars to the opening of his LA Exhibition to boost the profile of the event.
If the media is chasing him nowadays like someone said earlier, then surely he shouldve sat back and let the media come to him.

i am not sure. did he invite them? or did they visit out of interest? i don't really imagine banksy inviting hollywood stars jsut for reasons of exposure? where did you read this?

Cant remember where i'd read it, but it was in a review of the event.
People on the guestlist included the likes of ... Angelina jolie, Macauley Culkin, Brad Pitt, Christina Aguilera, Keanu reeves ....

(Sep 26 06, 02:28)i know they visited. but weren't they put on the guestlist as they were simply interested to see it privately? as in, not taking over the show and being bothered by the 'regular' visitors?

this one?

the real irony here is that you kon23, have been a sellout without ever being involved in anything, with your graffiti tag requests and general pseudo-urban trendwhoring. Basically, you are a flip-flopping scenester sap so who cares whats in your 'hott or not' list, you're not much better than paris hilton.

mrsnuggles.
hadnt read that article before but it'll do.

repost, but it is funny. Charlie 'rant' Brooker gets stuck in - the comments are hilarious, so many people completely losing their sense of humour and going on the defensive offensive.
One even calls it a Daily Mail rant, from Charlie Brooker? hahah
- 23kon0
cheers rasko.
i can proudly say that i've never worn or owned a pair of flip flops.
definitely not a scenster as i dont follow music trends just for the sake of being cool, come see my music collection if you dont believe me.
the clothes i wear are the same styles and brands i have worn since i was about 16.I'd say that a 'mug' and a 'scenewhore' is someone like the guy on sunday night in camden that offered me £250 for my scabby ORIGINAL V.S.W tshirt that ive had for years and years and years.
the graffiti tag requests were something that i needed done and wouldnt try to do myself as im not a graffiti artist or tagger in the same way i wouldnt try to do an illustration for a site or project cos im sh*te at it.
fandabidozi!

"his work looks dazzlingly clever to idiots"
from that article kelpie postedThe cleverest graffiti ive seen was in these books my old man had from the late 70s or early 80s. - they were maybe callled "graffiti" and there was a huge series of them. The books were a collection of clever, funny and humorous graffiti from around the world from places like public toilets to walls and billboards.
Dont get me wrong, i like some of the stuff Banksy has done, its not 'new' though and he's no more of a genius than anyone else who's "art" or "spur of the moment rant" ended up in teh pages of one of those graffiti books. i just dont see why everyone has him up on such a high pedestal.
- rasko40
hehe.. I'd have taken him up on selling the vision shirt.
- 23kon0
in hindsight i wish i did,
it wouldve meant making my way home topless though
- kelpie0
you should have negotiated £220 off him and taken his pink sleeveless number along with it

That 'article' is rather amusing, and yet rather sad. There is an enormous amount of anti-anti these days in an obvious reaction to anti-corporatism and protest in general, a bizarre kind of aggressive apathy. Apparently if you disagree with anything then you are a 'hippie' or trying to be 'trendy' and probably have a che guevera shirt at home.
It's just a shame that people can't see behind the spectacle of everything and realise how they are manipulated by media, by the effect of media saturation and fashion, and how their own viewpoints are affected by cyclic boredom - "oh I've seen this before , it's not relevant to me anymore because I'm cooler now"
It's a hilarious irony.

come on rasko, the 'article' is a funny rant by the guy who helped write Brasseye, ffs, I don't think its meant to be taken seriously.
personaly, I think Banksy's style of stuff is cool, used to love seeing it while walking down the street - I think his stunts are quite funny, even audacious at times, but for me that's as far as it goes. No ill will toward the guy, but I don't think he warrants the worship he gets from some quarters, and I agree that his message is pretty standard stuff, not deep in the slightest. just my opinion.

I was saying I found it pretty funny and moved on to people in general, and I'm not one for defending banksy, I couldn't give a shit. What I give a shit about is why people get so upset, there's a disturbing neo-conservatism taking hold.
