i am meeting with a women who sales expensive women's clothes and accessories today to show some comps...i got some other ones, but this is my fav so far
the box isn't measured or balanced or anything nice, but it gets the point across
is this an appropriate direction for the likes of prada, CK, luis vit, gucci, etc?
today we are picking a direction and going from there
thanx for any and all feedback...
the other comps are just different directions like hand written (kenneth cole), some serif logo type maybe, other ideas...

the big M has clubfeet.

lose the border and use a nicer typeface for the M.
Something like Didot if you want that style of thing.
Not very inspired but I guess most fashion brands are like that.
Although, the fashion brands (like prada) show their understated quality through the perfect drawing of their custom logotypes.
ie, needs more work, but since it's a comp I'll let you off because you can tweak it later, if she buys into it. It's important to show her your sources ie other fashion brand logos.

i agree, and thanx for the comments
yeah, it is a bit uninspired...cause i haven't been inspired yet...as far as the M, most of the fashion brands don't use a logo mark at all, but rely on their name in a really stale, but calculated logo type...
we may choose to go that direction...iono
to me, the M right now seems strong and "will not fall over" (mainly cause it has thick columns and club feet)...i don't really know why i chose it, but we will see what happens

don't listen to Baskerville, he'll be telling you to turn the M into a coathanger next, pffft ;)
- Baskerville0
the logo's a bit boring, try turning the m into a coathanger or even a pair of shoes. It will look dead classy and make the brand famous. That's what I'd do.

that's it, i am going to arrange and twist coat hangers in the in the shape of an M and photograph it...
logo finished.
next project please.

the m is totally clunky.
doesn't give the impression of high end retail at all.
- Baskerville0
btw for the record, a high end fashion logo I have designed:

"lose the border and use a nicer typeface for the M."
ditto that.

lose everything but the type, lose that hideous big M immediately.
Currently it looks like a bengali wholesaler of ripoff gear on the whitechapel road.

(Sep 25 06, 07:05)hahahaha, didn't want to say it but you've hit the nail!

hahaha
funny stuff about the M
i can again see from the dunhill that most fashion logos have no logo mark, but go for really calculated logo type
baskerville, nice
i will think about all of this during the meeting today

Just a different M...I dig the border idea, you could use it in other treatments.

M = fugly
- Baskerville0
the top logo is nice, ie just 'mancini' in a decent typeface, make sure it's kerned well etc. That's all it needs. You can be more creative with photography, print work etc.
- kelpie0
some little twist to the typw would make it come alive in my opinion, but otherwise yeah, way better dropping the M. lol rasko.

If this is just for comps, I'd keep the Big M - even the flaws in it might be useful talking points.
Besides, I actually almost like the M - and I can definitely imagine that on the front of a few pretentious boutique-y type places where my folks live.
Though, I get the feeling that, overall, you're parroting the big designer house brands?
- myobie0
i agree baskerville and kelpie...
i will try to steer toward the second one i showed and then come up with something to make it "come alive"
i plan on the photography and type on the ads to do the talking anyway
thanx for the comments, anymore?
