experiencing a random shutdown while working in Photoshop CS2 on a macbook at blazing G3 speeds must be truly something

eh my powerbook randomly shuts down...i'd rather have a macbookpro that randomly does instead.
seriously though, off topic, if anyone knows why my powerbook would randly shut down while running on battery, send me an email or something, thanks.

runs better with 1,25 GB memory but still too slow... no random shutdowns though... knock knock

I accidentally discovered the 1GHz mode - press power btn for 5 secs during startup to throttle down the processor to 1 GHz.
This keeps the shutdowns down to, like, one daily so far. I think it's a very good result.
On a side note, this mode is also very good for battery use, and runs cooler too.
I am a happy macuser now, even though my initial 3 months of applecare have already expired.
Fuck!Is there a big difference between standard warranty and applecare when using it outside the country of purchase? There's no genius bar as there is no apple store in Ireland anyway..

(Sep 25 06, 01:17)i think that both warranty and applecare are global, but only if it's a laptop or ipod (the rule is that if it can run without being plugged in, it's covered everywhere). i know that that's the case with applecare, not 100% sure about standard warranty. you may want to invest in applecare while you're still within the warranty period to be on the safe side. ring them!

I don't like the shorter screens on the Black & White MacBooks, they could have made them a bit higher.

thanks, para, I will call them, although probably I would be better off walking
