My degree is Graphic Information Technology at Arizona State University, Polytechnic Campus. I aslo have a job for the College of Science and Technology as a Web Designer. Basically, my major is like an IT degree (management of data), but for graphics. Basically, I take a core or management/business classes, science /math classes, and various printing, color theory, and technology classes. Its quite fun!

So, turns out being fired is going to save you a lot of money

I got laid off a couple of weeks back too, I was just getting into doing a load of diy work at home and someone offered me a job. How terribly inconvenient. Now there's painting and diy being left unfinished!

i think most folk on here have been in that position, esp after the dot com boom a few years ago.
most folk will tell you that its the best thing thats ever happened to them and thattheyve moved onto better things and a better job afterwards.
all the best though for finding something new.

sucks man. I got laid off due to lost accounts a couple years ago, my first job outta school.
Got fired last year @ my second job, they never told me why. It was probably because I couldn't hide the fact that I thought my new micro-managing boss was an ass and his boss was a bigger one, as respectful as I tried to be.
Six months later I found the best job of my life thus far. Hope you find the same...chin up.

I also had a security guard when I and some other co-workers were laid off a few years back, kj. Except he (and a priest, lol) actually escorted each of us out of the store.

so according to the facts, you didn't laid off...
well, save up and get ready for the tax time.

sorry to hear about that studderine.

sorry to hear and be the bearer of bad news - but taxes are more like 44% all in when you add in federal - state - and social security. Because you are contract you are considedered an independent business and subject to higher tax rates

That sucks. Only time I got fired was a really WEIRD experience.
- studderine0
Damn...well does it matter the amount of hours you worked? I basically only worked part time for them. I am exempt from a lot of taxes from what I understand My university job barely takes any taxes out at all. 44 percent? thats nearly HALF of what one makes. that is crazy.

*sigh...
... I feel you, buddy... but like everyone else says - 'chin up'... things are always changing. :)

Who did you work for studderine? Anyone big? Pony and I would know about?
- studderine0
No one big. Just a small SEO company in Mesa.
