Wow...being an Aussie, I think it's only now starting to hot home how much we'll miss this guy.
I knew he was a larger than life character, but I had no idea his death would impact that many people all over the world.
Listening to his daughter Bindi give her speech at the memorial, you couldn't help but get choked up. She was absolutely amazing and I'm sure Dad would be proud.
The tribute was first rate...god bless an absolutely ripping bloke and his family.

Maybe a good way to go...but way too soon...I'm starting to think he was the greatest person this country has EVER produced...I can't think of anyone else more deserving...

Get a grip people...sure Kylie and Nick Cave may be famous but really they've done fuck all to leave the world a better place...
As much of a cock as Steve Irwin could be some times, he was an absolutre one of a kind that did more for the environment than any other Australian...Peter garrett included.

one thing he did was to buy up loads of land with the money he had earnt to stop it being used for hunting, developing and the like. If previous conservationists had thought of this years ago, we would have much more land protected

I'll never forget the time I was in sydney walking down the street trying to find cook and philip park so I could go for a cruise on my board and I asked this chick where it was, and she was quite stunnign she had the most amazingly big and round eyes and very deep blue I fell in love with her immediatly what a fascinating creature to have eyes like that :).
