Why would I care about gapless playback. Am I running a radio station or something?
CyBrain
(Sep 12 06, 19:42)continuous music that spans tracks. the gaps get pretty annoying.

so what's with this multiple libraries thing? anyone try that?
it says you can have a library on a different hard drive...
does that mean i can store a lot of my music on my portable hard drive and play it directly from there? i've been wanting to do that forever.
there's not much info about it on apples website.

Haha... can someone explain the 'gapless' playback thingy to me.
I know what it means, obviously, but how is it different to how iPods are at the moment?
I being realllll thick, aren't I?

games?.. they say you can have doom on 5G ipod with rockbox http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin…
I'll have to try, it's not replacing ipod firmware, but is installed independently

(Sep 12 06, 21:35)"Multiple Libraries
Build your collection over multiple libraries, and keep them on different hard drives to save space."and "As your collection grows, you can keep multiple libraries — even store them across more than one hard drive."

i really wish they had more info on that, because right now my music is taking up most of my hard drive...

itunes doesn't do a very good job of finding album artwork initially
if you select your whole library and select 'get album artwork' if finds WAY more.
- turosatano0
but still, it is incredibly slow finding it, and most of the cover artwork i need isnt in the store anyway.
and yes when you request artwork the info is sent to apple, it is stated when you first start itunes 7. it says no personal info is stored and so on but they do keep all the info about the music you request artwork for, maybe associated w your ip, an internal ID or who knows what.
if concerned, the only way is to delete your store account, I dont have one anyway, cause id never pay for anything at that bitrate.
there are problems with itunes 7 already, i have audio plugins and they dont work anymore.

When Steve Job's introduced the new wireless mediastation, made me think of Austin Powers.... We like to call it Itv.......
all of you outside the UK.. Itv is a major Uk tv network.
- Bullitt0
Be intresting to find out what Pixel ratio the movies are compressed too... if they keep a good quality image on a tv then I think their in business.

And what's going on with podcast search, you used to be able to search podcasts by chapters, is that gone now? I was really diggin that.
:(
- turosatano0
well theyre in business already no matter what, and they will be. They're the 5th music retailer selling music at 128kbps. Thats one of their biggest merits, I think. clearly there are millions of people out there who dont care about sound quality too much, so 640x480 and saying that is "near DVD quiality" isnt gonna upset any of them either

I currently have a library on an external harddrive - works great. No issues whatsoever. I don't have multiple libraries, but I'm not necessarily seeing the point of that.
In the advanced preferences tag, you can change the location of your folder.

(Sep 13 06, 06:32)yeah, i have the same thing going. i wonder how would you set it up. in the prefs, you can only have one location.
- turosatano0
quit and restart itunes w the option key held down, it 'll let you choose or create multiple libraries. but, only see one at a time once itunes is running.
i dont think thats new tho

(Sep 13 06, 07:21)ah, i see it. nice. can you switch it back and forth? like keep an itunes folder on your HD and another on your external, and just choose whichever one you want to listen to through the preferences?
