Hello,
I want to make a book but have very few skills in the area. Can anyone recommend progs or things that I need to do. The final doc has to be print ready pdf. I have 100 drawings, what do I have to do to make them a print ready pdf?

if you dont have design software, try placing the pages in word and exporting a pdf? dunno, you really need Indesign or Quark and Acrobat Pro to do this right

Get Indesign, it's actually quite easy and intuitive to use. Makes nice pdfs.

so, excuse my ignorance. If I were to get indesign, can I see on the screen how the pages would look and move things around etc? Can I save the doc and just send it to the printers to use or do I need to do more to it? I use photoshop a lot so would prob pick it up fastish. If I made each page on PS then saved the whole lot as one pdf would that work?

yes. indesign cs2 can even import photoshop files directly. enjoy and good luck.

Make sure you get the right PDF output settings from the printer.

Ask the printer. They might have specific compression and color settings they want you to use, depending on the job.

i would avoid making an entire book in photoshop, much like I would avoid an angry dog with bees in his mouth, or sharks with lazers on their heads.

ok no probs - I mailed her earlier, we'll see. I'd like to learn the prog anyway though so might give it a go myself. I live near the sea and will try hard for the shark thing. I will see how much UPS charge though
