lived there for about 5 years... some of my fondest memories were from being stone-drunk down on 'the Landing' near the casino boats on the mississippi... or on the 'other' casino boats 30 mins up the road on the Missouri river...
... but... there's one other spot in St. Louis that is by far my favorite:
Laumeier sculpture park... soooooo cool. :)... and free!

This St Louis event search is where I always find what there is to do:
http://www.explorestlouis.com/ca…The open air market is Soulard Market on Broadway and Lafeyette. That is a good neighborhood for bars and restaurants.
I've lived here forever and still haven't been to the sculpture park or the Pulitzer. I'll have to do that soon.
There are some cool events pretty regularly. Last weekend was the Japanese Festival at the Botanical Gardens.
This weekend there is a Pow Wow and two outdoor Art Festivals, etc.
They do usually involve eating and drinking.

Best pub in town:
The Scottish Arms.
Good beer, better Scotch, good food, cool patio. Frequent live Celtic music.
on Sarah, off of Forest Park. Went there a couple nights ago, had a great time.

Places: You must go to the City Museum. Seriously fun. Also, the Pulitzer and the Contemporary are right next to each other so hit those up. Don't forget Forest Park! The Art Musuem there is world class and FREE. Sculpture park is a must as well.
Eats: St. Louis is legendary for places to eat. There are too many good options to just tell you where, but you can find a great restaurant for any taste you are after. Screw the toasted ravs, but make sure to get some STL Style thin crust pizza somewhere (preferably Joanie's in Soulard). Oh, and an early morning slinger at Courtesy Diner if you are brave!
Culture: Hit up the Central West End, South Grand, Delmar Loop. Lots of stuff to do in all locales. Great foot traffic, and plenty of sidewalk eating.

(Sep 8 06, 15:05)Well there's my exgirlfriend...
The one time I went there I did all things St. Louis. Go up in the arch, visit the science center, check out the open air market by the river (can't think of the name). Go to the Budweiser plant. Eat some toasted ravioli for me. And get a cup of Ted Drew's Frozen Custard (they hand it to you upside down...that's how frozen it is). Not a great town to do things in, had an OK time, but if you stick to food and drinks, you'll be good to go.
