Wear a suit dude... as long as it looks fucking fly. No point if it's all creased and a bad fit...
Don't really need to wear a tie, takes the super-smart edge away from the outfit, but still shows you can dress yourself.
Anyone can wear a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and if that's the going dress code of company, at least you've shown you can 'dress up' if you need too.

I have nice suits (minus the jacket) for corporate interviews. I also have plenty of crappy looking business casual clothes.
I have the hardest time dressing for an interview that is somewhere in between. It's the fine line between not looking like a slob that doesn't care vs coming off as a square.

better to underdress than over dress

button-down + decent pants + nice shoes or dress boots.
Suit/Tie doesn't seem to be necessary. We are a bit more buttoned-up than most firms (no t-shirts here), but I wore the above and got the jobe.

I can't wear a suit to any place that is even close to being hip. Last time I tried it on I looked like a fat used car salesman.

Research the company a little bit and try to blend in. Forget the suit! Casual designer clothes like jeans and a cool shirt or tee always does the job.
This is all starting to sound a little gay so I am just gonna shut up and go watch Sex & the city or something...

i've been told dress one notch above what everyone else working there wears. so if you know that the people working there go jeans/t-shirt, wear like a polo and nice pants. if they wear business casual like polos and khakis, then go dress shirt and tie. if they wear dress shirts and ties, go suit.
