Anyone from the Seattle area got some tips on which neighborhoods to stay in in Seattle for about a month. Cheap/clean/safe. Or perhaps which areas to stay clear of.

I am looking for hotels, they all seem fairly high "on the hills" - as expected.
Might look out of town a little to save some $. Any out of town areas to suggest - even if it's 1 hour communte, no big deal. Will mostly be working from hotel.

the Ace is pretty rad...not so quite or safe but rad

i thought most kids have pit bulls and sleep on the street in seattle. no?

I live on the same block as the Ace, that hotel is bad ass, but may not be cheap.

great bar/grill downstairs too...The Cyclops?
It's not to quite..it's next to a club...the one time I stayed there the sidewalk was covered with puke from the club.
It's in a cool hood though

No they're just dirty, underage, and fat. As in 3 McDonalds meals a day fat.
Try Hotel Max if you're needing to work. It's right smack dab in the middle of downtown.
You might try the MarQueen Hotel too - http://www.marqueen.com/
This one's right in Lower Queen Anne (right where I live). There's a theater less than a block away. At least 4 bars less than a block away (including my favorites, 10 Mercer=classy, The Mecca Cafe = awesome dive bar). You can hop on a bus less than a block away too if you felt like going into Belltown or Pike Place Market or even Capital Hill if you'd like.My two cents... e-mail me if you need directions or anything.

There is no bad part of Seattle. That place is bloody amazing, and totally fuckin safe. If you have the opportunity stay in Downtown (beltown), Queen Anne or Cap Hill.

Thanks guys - some good links.
Also looking into extended stay hotels...
Anyone know if any of these are OK areas?

The Tukwila and Southcenter locations for Extended Stay would be right about 1/2 an hour south of Downtown Seattle on I-5. I'm pretty sure the Tukwila location is less than half a mile from an I-5 North or South on-ramp. Right near SeaTac airport too!

I agree with fortified. Seattle is an amazing place. You dont have to worry about your safety, just don't be an idiot. Capitol Hill is the spot if you are looking for nightlife and colorful people. Queen Anne, First Hill, Belltown are all nice but more yuppy. Depends on your tastes. But trust me, you will find no better place in the US during the summer than Seattle!

Plus while you're here, you should pick up a shirt or a wallet from Invicid. He makes some cool cool 'ish!!

just admit that seattle is a little podunk piece of shit town. it was the greyest place I'd ever seen. I was there for a few days but I could tell how much it sucked the moment I got off the plane.
this is why I'm straight back to colorado when I get me pot of gold.
