Well my day was officially ruined by a cop this morning for a rolling stop. 5 freaking points in colorado and $143 dollars.....
any advice to getting this knocked down or off?

I never understood the term "rolling stop" either you are rolling or you are stopping.
get a lwyer to knock the points off, it will cost more but it is common.

dick: tell your dad to drive better. 5 points in one year?
not dick: get a lawyer involved and go to court. a majority of the time the cop will not show up for little things like this. if he doesn't show up it gets thrown out. also, your dad might be able to take a saturday driving course instead of taking the point. if he completes t he class the point doesn't go against his record.
5?!? i think it's actually 3 in illinois per year and you lose your license.

show up to court. you don't need a lawer, unless it criminal court. otherwise the magistrate or DA looks at your case and makes an offer before you get into court and are simply asked if you agree to the new charges or not. you say yes, then pay the Man, and off you go!
night court's at 8pm.

The thought that it will be thrown out in court if the cop does not show up is a myth. Take it to court and if the cop is there, do not try to argue, just plead that it will cause greif to pay so much and they will knock it down.

The cop doesnt have to be there. There is usually an officer who serves as a representative.

In my experience if you show up and are earnest they will take it off your record...don't they have a thing where if you go to driving school, your record is wiped clean?

shoot the cop.
then blame Iraq.

it must be iraq's fault

go to court all nice. bring your checkbook. don't be a dick to anyone. talk to the Prosecuter before the trail. if you this is your first or second time, they will give you an offer(or ask for one) to pay it all with no points, or pay a bit and points. take the no points.

sounds good, I am willing to pay whatever just so my insurance doesn't sky rocket

in my defense of thinking the cop has to be there, the last ticket i got was in 1996.
*knocks real fuckin hard on wood

hire a lawyer. It will cost a few hundred and help a lot.
