someone asked me to do a job. I never started the job due to issues with this said person and the original party.
They are now threatening to sue me because I will not complete the website in 1 week or something.
Would something like this hold up in court?
O yes, one final detail. There was no subcontractor agreement.
thanks,
al

if there's nothing on paper and signed they can't do jackshit.

were you paid?
if not and there was no contract, tell them to fuck themselves.
legal action for not doing a website under these circumstances?! yeah right!

Sounds stupid but I am no lawyer, but no-one can force you to do work for them, especially when it seems there wasn't really an initial agreement anyway.
Avoid clients/companies like this, like the pague.

how can they prove whether or not they paid me.
I have no payment. They might say that they did. Do I have a recourse?

i just had my lawyer on the phone. he rocks. he's gonna get money back for me! i love lawyers!

their bank could prove that they did not pay you. if they paid you with a check, ask to see the cashed check with your signature endorsing it..
if they claim they paid you cash, they are dumb fucks.tell em to eat shit and just try to sue you

Thank you so much. This I thought had the potential of turning into a problem.
Turns out said party is just throwing around threats.
I'm pretty sure that they might go as far as falsifying a document stating payment.

verbal agreement with the cashed check acting as a signed contract? personally I'd do the same thing again to as many clients as possible until you have a new boat
- komkrktprod0
there was no check.
- Seff0
want me to call them?
i could tell them to eat shit on your behalf
- komkrktprod0
no Seff that won't be necessary.
But I appreciate the gesture.
- Teeuwen0
i want too!

build a website for them thats a 'fuck you' statement to them, if you have time.

I really don't want to antagonize them. I just want the issue resolved. They are threatening legal action but the emails that I have sent them are concise and to the point.
Said party is sounding pretty emotional and irrational in the emails.
kind of funny.

say you will build them a website in the time they need it - and charge them 15K upfront.

Do not entertain any idea of working for these people. They sound insane. No good can come out of a relationship that is not benefidical to both parties.
