Is there any way to make a flash shell that will load an external swf without having any effect on the paths of the loaded swf? Was given a set of premade swf's that need a new outer skin but they failed to provide the fla's.
Thanks!

totally depends on how it was built. more likely than not you will have to repath i would think...but maybe not.

yeah, unfortunately I have no access to the source files, just the exported swfs

if they used releative paths, you wont have any problem, but if they were referenceing root, you will...

Try cracking the swf's and recode the links. Try http://www.sothink.com/product/f…

Don't forget the overlooked, but completely life-saving _lockroot property that can be applied to a movie clip in your shell that loads the other movies: http://livedocs.macromedia.com/f…

Nice of the sothink people to develop that program for any versoin of Flash, so you can get anything out of it (according to their claims), except they didn't develop it for MAC!!!

yep, the lockroot property fixed anything pathing issues I may have had but the dynamic text fields aren't showing up. It has a tree nav in the left column that it populates. The right number of nodes and subnodes are appearing , but the text that should be next to each one is not. Is there a specific dynamic field bug related to loading an external swf into a movieclip?

The problem might be that in the original fla for that file, the font wasn't embedded properly. Does the font display properly when you play that movie separately?
I suppose in your situation, you could place the text labels in your shell movie.
