designing a small website for a dutch writer/poet/storyteller.
first time that i'm using another way to 'embed' flash in an attempt to make the website futureproof, so i'm not 100% sure about how it looks like on a pc.
how does this website perform on a PC using IE and FF?
thanks!

works fine on both ff and ie on my pc.
clean, simple and nice.

nice bike, nice site

I really like it - even though I have no idea what it's saying to me.
A very impressive photo montage and I like the animated details ... though not on the flock of birds, which is the one place I'd really expect (though I appreciate how hard that would be!).
If I was being picky, I'd say that the animation isn't as smoothe as I'd like and the saturation on the photo seems a bit off. Also, it'd also be nice if there was a slight transtion on the text popups or some semblance of interactivity.
Whatever though - original and effective! *tips hat
winxp ff 1.5

I take it your monitor is quite dark / high contrast? :)

nairn, thanks for being picky. the pickier the better.
the birds, indeed.
but animating the birds would be over the top since i don't ask for a penny making this website.
i planned to make some more hidden animations in it, maybe also on the birds.you're also right on the image.
the image was difficult.
it's an existing place in the Netherlands, though romanticized.
photo's taken with an analog camera on different times of the day to get the day>night transition to the right.it's still a draft, loads of work to do yet.
oh, and Vlamvast (the logotype) translated is something like "incombustible" in English.

using a G4 powerbook.
today at work using an apple flatscreen i noticed too that there's more visible then i actualy thought viewing it on my powerbook.
thanks anyway!
- stewart0
okay. thanks so far.

works fine on PC/FF. like the idea. and maybe you could add some easing to the movement, now it seems to move pixel by pixel. also making the background move slower the nthe things in front would give the whole some more depth. alltho, doing this site for practically nothing will probably whipe out everything i said above.

looks ok here.
the only thing is that the scrolling is kinda annoying coz it reacts with every single movement of the cursor.

(Aug 17 06, 00:42)true. but a scrollbar would be a bit dull i think.

okay, thanks for the comments.
it's online now.
and will be constantly under construction. adding new eastereggs etcetera.

(Aug 17 06, 00:52)true. but I wasn't talking about adding a scrollbar in there, but to maybe make the scrolling a bit smoother.

i don't mind the instant response. it takes some getting used to, but since the feedback is instant, it is really easy to learn. i wouldn't change that too much.
leave the birds as is. i didn't know they were moving. adding flapping wings could complicate things more than you'd want.
Rembrandt would dig this site fo'shizzle.

about the smoothness:
i use this script; first line for centering the panorama picture vertically, and the second line for scrolling:
http://pastebin.coconut.se/?id=4…
how on earth can i improve this script to make the image scroll smoother??
- tomkat0
try this, but I haven tested it:
- stewart0
that's ummm, not it. yet.
- tomkat0
ok but it should work if you use the tweening classes (laco.wz.cz)
and then
_root.panorama._x.tween("_x",new... ;
;)
