Well not really. It's amazing, er, at least the demos are.
I got a game to play last night, put it in, and nothing happened. No error, just nothing. So I tried a DVD, a CD, a cassette tape, 8-track, and record, nothing worked.
This happen to anyone else? I bought it off some guy, and it is brand new (he gave me some form of a customer copy of a receipt to Circuit City). Think I'll have a problem returning it or will I have to go through XBOX tech support?

i've heard about some of the drives failing. i think microsoft will fix it for you for free or give you a new one. call microsoft and tell them to get you a new one.

=0 ... oh oh, so its not working at all?@?@
- CincodeMayo0
Well it works fine, everything except the disk drive. I got online fine, downloaded games, having a lot of fun with it. Some of the graphics are really impressive. I just can't use any disks.
I don't mind going through Xbox tech, I just mind not having it for like a couple weeks while they fix it. Plus I've heard that they send you a refurb which sucks if it's true. I just dropped 400 beans on this. Give me a working one!

maybe you shouldn't buy mediocre consoles from questionable people
- Momentum20
you ended up not buying it from the store? I thought its 400 from the store!?
- CincodeMayo0
No, I was about to buy it from the store, and I ended up buying it from a guy who had just got it. It was never opened, everything was sealed, and he gave me this customer receipt. So hopefully Circuit City (where the receipt is from) won't have a problem swapping machines for me. I'm not sure what their policy is on faulty XBOX's though.
- MisterNiddles0
Opppps. Sounds like someone got fukked on craigslist.
- CincodeMayo0
Well maybe I did, but the machine works, and I saved a good amount of cash. I think it's just a faulty machine and after looking around on the net it seems like this is pretty common.

it's easy to seal stuff up again. what kind of receipt was it? you said it's some weid receipt?
- CincodeMayo0
It's a Circuit City receipt. It says the location, price, what was bought, etc. But it's a customer copy. I mean the proof is there, so it shouldn't be a problem. I'm just afraid I'm gonna get their and they're gonna tell me to go through Xbox to fix it.

wots ur gamertag. i want to kick your ass at EVERYTHING.
- jevad0
Take it back to Circuit City then!
- CincodeMayo0
You can't. I can't play any games!
But MisterNiddles sounds like the most macho, ass kicking name ever.
- CincodeMayo0
Take it back to Circuit City then!

(Aug 11 06, 11:01)I'mma gonna! As soon as the clock turns 12. I'll report back.
- Momentum20
how old is the reciept? hopefully its not pass 30 days!
- MisterNiddles0
Bring it on..... if u eva figure out what to do with your broke ass system.
- gabe0
why did you pay $400 for it from someone else when you could've bought one brand new for the same price?
even if it was a bit more $ from the store, the peace of mind you get from knowing if there are any issues everything's legit and you will be able to return it - is worth it.
hope it works out, but it sounds a bit suspicious...

(Aug 11 06, 11:02)Nope...the guy bought it on August 1st. That's the only reason I ended up buying it from him.
- Momentum20
Good deal! Go return it and buy a game haha
- CincodeMayo0
No, no...I ended up paying like $350. I probably should've just ponied up and paid $50 more at the store, but he has a receipt so hopefully it'll all be good.
It sounded suspicious to me too, but turns out the guy bought one, thought it would work on his projector (which serves as his TV) and it didn't. He ended up returning his for a brand new one so he could turn around and see it "brand new". Sounded fishy to me too. Still does. But as long as CC gives me a new one, I'll be happy.
