Gramme, what exactly are the liberals spewing? Im not trying to start any shit but when people try to lump liberals in with the current crop of republicans it drives me crazy.

(Aug 10 06, 09:04)I just don't see much wisdom on either side of the game. For the record, I voted for Bush in round one, but round two I didn't due to disappointment about his first term.
I am personally in a bit of a political no-man's land; I agree with the Republicans on abortion, but not on foreign policy or most environmental issues.
What I refer to, dobs, is the mud-slinging that goes on in both camps. Republicans often try to take advantage of us religious folk by packagin their personal agendas for fame & wealth in a slick, Biblical sheen; and Democrats turn moral issues into matters of personal preference. There is painfully obvious lack of character in both camps. I really don't wanna get into a shitfight about abortion, etc, I think you all know my stance on that...
I'm simply saying that there are liars and thieves in both camps, not just in America but abroad as well. That should be abundantly obvious form watching any news channel.

You lost this round, fuckface. That is why you can't say anything.

ok then, Balance. do you think anthropogenic CO2 emissions has anything to do with ocean acidification?
- mrdobolina0
Ha, throw up the blinders, balance. Put me on ignore, you dumb shit.
- mrdobolina0
Haha, that makes me laugh that the idiot got so frustrated with being wrong he put me on ignore.
I fail to see how any ecological issue can be political at all.
- Nairn0
lowimpakt - have you read this ..er.. last week's edition of NS, on ocean acidification?
Compare their coverage with that of August's Scientific American, a 3 paragraph newsbite under the headline 'Gas Attack" (!).
Well, it made me chuckle.
A good article from SciAm on CO2 in the atmosphere..

It's all a lovely entangled pile of maggots. Politics, ecology, and religion have always been, and will continue to be inextricably linked. People will use anything to push an agenda, be it personal physical freedoms, moral concerns, or ecological issues.
- mrdobolina0
Gramme, you forgot about obtaining power and wealth.
- Nairn0
Yeah, but Gramme - unlike Politics and Religion, the environment's actually important!
;)

Do you know what smog is and how it is created? Do you know what acid rain is?
mrdobolina
(Aug 10 06, 08:15)Yes I know what smog is. I'll give you it's definition as it is. Smog is a kind of air pollution. Classic smog results from large amounts of coal burning in an area and is caused by a mixture of smoke and sulphur dioxide.
(This part is important to you)
Smog can form in almost any climate where industries or cities release large amounts of air pollution. However, it is worse during periods of warmer, sunnier weather when the upper air is warm enough to inhibit vertical circulation. It is especially prevalent in geologic basins encircled by hills or mountains.
(LA)
Meaning: Every city on the planet would have smog under the conditions listed above, the reasons it's worse in cities such as London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Houston, Toronto, Athens, Beijing, Hong Kong or the Ruhr Area is because they are in basins encircled by hills or mountains.
So the question is. Do YOU really know what smog is cause it's biggest maker is the lands natural layout.

i just don't understand why there's this big resistance to global warming. What do you possibly have to lose by acting more responsible in terms of the environment? Even if everything about global warming is wrong, what do you lose by conserving energy? What do you lose by reducing emissions? What do you lose by consuming less oil and improving public transportation? I just don't get the arguments against it.
The only possible conceivable reason is that you're some sort of industrialist who doesn't want to pay big bucks to upgrade his pollution-spewing plant, cutting into his short term profits. But that should be the least of the people on here.

How about the hole in the ozone layer? Man-made or cyclic, non-caused thing?

(Aug 10 06, 09:40)WRONG
It's biggest maker is the pollution in the air, otherwise it wouldn't be smog at all, it'd just be a high pressure area.(Served)

Is Republican in this thread? I have him ignored - is that who you're all responding to? And where did Garrett_West go?
