It's a waste of money if you drop out midway too...whether it is in the middle of your degree/program, or the middle of the year.

Right... if the school sucks, find a better one, get your shit together and go after the education you want. Honestly, after the first semester you should know if the program you're in is worth a damn. I wouldn't have waited two years to bail.

...actually seeing that your from North Vancouver, i think you should quit school, work on your art/design, (it's actually more fine art) and let your talents take you around the world.
You can do it pendijo!*

this could go either way... you are halfway done, what's the harm in finishing?
on the other hand, an associate's degree on your resume isn't gonna make me wanna hire you over someone else, however, your work would...

I am 31, had no degree until 2 years ago....worked fine, found jobs, learned a lot..maybe almost I know about my job today....but in the end I had to take a degree, and a that piece of paper doesn´t only give you the extra confidence but also opens you the doors to some companies you might want to work for in the future... it is all part of your progress as a professional!

If college isn't pushing you enough & you can afford it, keep going and push yourself with personal projects... Make some cool art, experiment with different styles, start a band... Don't rush to be out there working, you don't need money at 19 - way cooler to be poor when you're a teenager anyway.

school teaches you how best to learn and to how to recognise bad from good design. It's not just a piece of paper.

I was in a similar situation. I was set to start college during the height of the dot-com era, and I didn't want to go. I was sick of school and I thought that since I knew how to build a website I should just go out and get a 75K job right away. I was young, and I was wrong! I wound up going to school because that's what everyone told me to do, and I had the time of my life! I would do anything to have another 4 years of college now.
Dude...stay in school! Its only a 2 year program so that means just 1 year left. 19 is very young....not the time to be worrying about "wasting" your life. This is the time when you need to be enjoying life because things will only become more difficult and challanging. Learning the things that you are not interested in (like engrish and programming) are things that you will most likely look back on and be glad that you studied. good luck.

(Jul 28 06, 08:29)You should be able to catch wind of what's happening in the whole department, what quality of work the higher level students are producing, if the instructors are dedicated and experienced etc.

I'd say it depends what school that you are going to.
There are some really great schools here but I also know that there are some serious piece of shit 'internet' schools in Vancouver.
If you are going to AI or Bodwell or the like, get the hell out...

Hey Hewmiri
Did you do the album cover for Wibutee?

Humili! Those are some of my favourite lyrics by the Stars.

Even when college feels tedious and stale, when you look back on things you'll wish you had embraced it more. Note that this is coming from someone who loved academia, and still feels like he didn't appreciate it enough. It probably won't enhance your job prospects, but there might be just one idea in one of those english classes that changes your life, and for that, in my opinion, you can wait a little while for the success to come.
