not a fan of the site, I've seen this type of layout concept done well, unfortunately this falls short...

ow and yes, I know php, but using AJAX would do nothing for the load times (images are loaded on click, same thing would happen with AJAX).
As I am rewriting the bgimage I can't use a low-source image, but I can set it as initial bg (after a click) wich would display it when something is loading.
thnx for that idea!

@mr. snuggles: please show me sites wich you think execute this setup better. Or tell me how you think it can be improved.
I'm not here for love and praise, But I don't have much use for critique without telling me what's the problem.:)

bottom line is that there is no hierarchy at all. You can maintain a consistent type size throughout but please use a bit of colour or more interesting spatial relationships to encourage the viewer to look around.
Again, just my opinion, but if you sent this link to me, looking for an internship, most likely I wouldn't even bother to check out the work which is unfortunate becasue there is some good work in there...

ok, thank you. I like the monotome appearance, but like you said that's just an opinion. There is actually a slight difference in the texts (serif and sans-serif at different sizes) as well as different greys. But I'll let you in a a secret, I first had the background of the titles all yellow ;)

neverblink, maybe progressive jpegs would be better?

I consider Build to be one of the best at this style of layout
even with the latest version of his site, he's created a bit more interest in the nav by using tones and some nice highlight colour...

ok, I see what you mean. I love his style, although he decided to have a lot less displayed on his page wich also brings the focus to the site.
I decided the visitor should be able to view my projects non-linear as well as linear. Wich brought along a whole other navigational system.
Now about the design: Although the navigation gets displayed over the images, I felt it had to be less important than the background. Wich is why I kept it.. well.. dull. :)

would be more conventional, but overall very strong work.

what academie are you attending, rietveld?
- vespa0
ooh it took out my arrows
i meant to say previous project on the left and next project on the right would be more converional, but overall v strong, keep up the good work!

I like the work, don't like the site. Just feel it's a poor user experience.
