I just bought a Mac Mini from the Apple Store (UK) waiting for it to be delivered any day soon. I went for the 1.66 Core Duo with 2GB of Ram with a 120GB HD... Cant wait.
Anyone else buy one recently?

i bought one a few weeks ago cause a client insisted the project be done on a mac...i got the lower model it kinda sucked photoshop was damn slow doing print work i did the project then quickly returned it. APPLE computer are great but to expensive.

the client insisted you do it on a mac? That'S bizarre...

"client insisted the project be done on a mac" That really is strange. I went for 2GB of memory to help with running applications like Photoshop under Rosetta until I can buy Universal Binary editions of CS3.. then the slowness will be a forgotten issue... though I'm yet to see how it actually performs for myself, I don't expect it to be all that bad as Ive ran Photoshop on a 400MHZ G3 for a long time then on a 400MHZ G4 tower!

I have the same machine, I love it. There are times where you have to be a little patient, mostly when loading software, but that's not a big problem to me. So far so good.

yourspecs sounds almost exacctly as my intel mac adn honestly i feel you will fall in love with your cube and anything that anyone will say wont compare.
it will be very strong and very fast and very reliable.
dont forget to back-up your work. do it weekly.

Thanks epill, I plan on upgrading the Processor to a new core2 and a 7200RPM HD some day when I feel like upgrading and the prices are nice and low

ya i have had it crash more often on my bew macbook pro then my older powerbook. if i have alot of apps open, but performance there about equal opening of programs are slower + some effects internal stuff but once CS3 is out it will smooth out and yes back up back up back up & save early save often !!!!

Lots of comments about backups.. is there more reason to worry about backups when using a Mini ?
I should think not?

I'm going to buy a bottom barrel mini within the next couple months then upgrade the processor to one of those new 2.33 mobile chips.
should be a pretty quick little machine.

well running photoshop and co under rossetta sure isn't going to be nice, but once they've been updated macs will be great.
If your not doing some heavy 3d stuff than even a cheap macbook should last you years.

Ah I wont be doing much 3D work on my Mac, Ive never really liked 3D graphics.
I will post my thoughts here in this thread when I get it up and running and I will let you know how well the non universal software really runs.

do that, but it won't really matter for long since CS3 is right around to corner and by january almost all apps will be available as a universal binary. it's just a matter of time
