Oops, I did it again...
Doing a favor for the IT guy who works for our company. He has a friend who needed a small website done for a roofing company - like 3 pages . I said I'd do it for $600. How hard could it be...
So I tell the guy I need images and he sends me, no shit, scanned images at 200dpi from a dot matrix printer of his competitors website and said "here just use these".
I told him "impossible" and he said "You can just 'photoshop' it right? My kid does that all the time gets the red right out of the fuckin' eyes. Genius kid..I'm paying you alot of money to do this so just photoshop it..."
I decide to move on - what do you want the pages to be, and what do you want them to say about your company, services...
Yup, you guessed it - "That's what I'm paying you for..hey, if I give you a check, can you not cash it for a few days.."
Head hits wall repeatedly...

'fuck right off' is right.

should have walked out the room the moment he said: "I'm paying you alot of money to do this so just photoshop it..."
sad, but it happens i hear every five minutes in the world.

yeah.. I know..the thing is this is like a prelim job for this IT guy who can throw lots of work my way..he does custom database stuff for a lot of companies who always ask him if he knows a designer. He knows shit all about web design, so he doesn'y quite get what I'm saying either..so I said I'd do this just to get the foot in the door..I knew it was going to turn out this way the minute he told me it was for a construction company..not too many bright bulbs in that industry...

all i can say is make sure you have a squishy ball handy.

sucks man! I think we've all done the same thing. Sometimes business opportunities have a price, just look at it that way.
You can allways write it up as a business expense (loss) and at least get a deduction.
I wish all these people that don't know anything about the business will stop saying, my kids done a website. That just pisses me off.

I feel like telling the guy "Yeah, my brother did some roofing in college for about two months. How about he puts a new roof on your house by himself?"
- TheBlueOne0
Latest emails form this guy when I ask for pictures of his company for the site:
"I think the guy will be useless for getting pictures, he will just want a say in what the pages say. Also you can copy pictures of roof's and men working on roof's from other sites. I don't know about plagiarisms in web pictures."
"plagarisms in web pictures?" It's the same as anywhere else..it's called copyright infringement...*sighs

Instead of moaning on here surely you could of found some royalty free images and put the site together... sometimes you've just got to get on with it, rather than be hand fed all the stuff.

I know..I already grabbed a whole bunch of images from Stock Exchange..I guess my point is that these guys want something that tells people about their company but want to do it with generic crap. It irks me, especially because they demand quality but don't want to put any input into it. I don't know jack all about who you are, so how do you expect me to communicate that through a design unless you help me out, you know? Believe me I'm doing the work, I'm just blowing off steam here..what else is the PVN for?
