Why did Zinedine Zidane head-butt Materazzi?

The Observer, I feel that I understand Zidane’s action on the World Cup final a little better though not wholly. This is so because there are always intersperse of politics, socio-economics, historical, and many factors in between.However, that does not stop me from coming up with my own little point of view.
I can brutally understand why he fights like the way he butts, for there is a point in time whereby there is more regret in not fighting then not to fight. That inner rage that breathes down at inequality and injustice, which cannot be watered down by self-control of what is hypocritical-politically correct or pseudo-morally right.I guess there is no pacifist approach when it comes to racism, sexism, nationalism, religion, family and identity. Or when the inner-conflicting demon dries up the innocent tears and roughened up the eyes, you know he had it hard and survived the streets.

Who needs a goody-two-shoes who does not understand real world woes?
Very much like E’to shed in a different light, I lost my respect for “Zizou” the footballer; I gain respect for “Yazid” the man, the human being, the humble man, the family man, the ghetto...and the list goes on.

who cares. its a sports game, ive said worse about people in soccer games. i was a goalie, during corner kids id talk crazy shit to the men in the box. its called be a man, and suck it up. materazzi helped out his team, he angered zidane and he blew his cool. captain? maybe so, bad temper? yes.

Sure you have talked smack in a "soccer" game. Messing with some suburban kid's mind is bit different from going to the toughest meanest street kid and picking a fight. They might not have anything else than their integrity so you better be prepared.
