I’m looking to setup a new blog for a dear abby type website. I’d like to use WordPress with their “pretty” permalink setup http://codex.wordpress.org/Using… . From that page...
“mod_rewrite permalinks require Apache's mod_rewrite module, which means that people running other servers cannot use them.”
Does that makes sense to anyone? I’d like to find a host so that I could do this and it would be great if the host provided additional domains so I can transfer all of mine over at the same time.
Thanks!

Hey I've got a wordpress blog hosted on MT that i play around with occassionally.
Setting up the "pretty permalinks" was as easy as switching an option in the CMS. Worked fine for me. I read a lot of documentation about it like you have, but I believe that stuff applied to older versions of wordpress. Not sure, but at any rate it wasn't hard.

I clicked the option in the tool but it just says page not found. It's possible that it's because it's on a windows server but I don't know what to try. It would be sweet if I could avoid messing with all this and transferring domains etc. I just want it up and running.
