So you're tipping so people don't make comments about you behind you're back...
I think you may have more issues here than tipping my friend.

especially when they're usually tipped a dollar on a 2.50 cup of coffee. that's a forty percent tip!
but who's counting. i go to a coffee shop where a lot of my friends work so i end up tipping a lot because i know they're starving students/artists/drug dealers

Tip Jars are divied up, usually with people you never see, do absolutely nothing taking a cut as well, heh.
But in these cases, the workers are at least minimum wage (or should be).

In this stage of my existence, I fear the whole world is talking behind my back.

I never tip if I'm not served- so if it's a cafe where you stand in line and get your food / pay no tip. BUT, if you are waited on, even with a 5 dollar tab, 3 dollar min tip

i never understood why they need tipping. i don't tip at mcdonalds or the dairy queen... why the fuck would i tip someone to pour me a coffee. makes no sense.
here is my tip for them.
"hey shithead... you're not fucking cool for working in a coffee shop and for mother fucks sake can you please play something else other than this dreadful Clay Aiken CD!?!"

I go to a different place every day so the staff doesn't whisper, here comes that dude who looks like he's been talking to God.

i've had conversations about you, kingjulien. but they've only been discussions about how talented and awesome you are.
(and how you can be a paranoid freak at times :)

Does an awareness of one's delusional nature lessen the condition itself? I think not.
Thanks, Shari.

I usually tip big because I feel there are people who are like Mr. Pink, or people who tip exactly a certain percentage from what a book told them.
Can really make someone else's day. Not so much the money aspect (though in truth, it does weigh in a lot, haha), but that someone noticed that they were working hard and appreciates them.

If that's true Julien than you're more paranoid than I am, haha.

Yesterday I called the supervisor of two guys from Comcast Cable because I was so pleased with their professionalism (in fixing my cable they had to climb on the roof and hang out the side window, which struck me as exceedingly dangerous) and just how cool they were. At the same time, I didn't consider tipping them a dollar.

Did you offer them something to drink?

I would make a noticed tip of a buck or two once a week say on a friday or monday. Other than that, you're already paying over the odds for a couple of ounces of dirty water and a fucking pastry so fuck 'em. Like the service is going to get any better/worse depending.

maybe they were looking inside from the window
