(Jul 17 06, 07:29)Awww. Don't slap vespa.
I'm sure there are many BBC staff who have voiced their concerns about outsourcing their entire web presence to potentionally a couple of 12 year old kids.
I'm sure they have and pay for skilled staff who could've handled it just as "well"...

exactly. why would i care about other people who have similiar news intrests. i'm just the need the fucking news from a reliable source!!!!!!!

(Jul 17 06, 07:20)That's nearly what I was gonna post.
I dont want to read people's blogs ANYWHERE, and certainly not on the BBC. It'll just become another toilet wall...

"Wasn't the homepage only redesigned last year? I bet the people who worked on that must be a little peeved!"
imagine.

(Jul 17 06, 07:02)I know the feeling.

this is what happens when football fans design websites, and a gooner at that.

could not agree more jamble....

I don't get it, it's not inspiring, not immediately clear and just seems to be a mish mash of things you see on a lot of other sites?
- madirish0
just caught on to this (been away from things for a bit)
i am even more pissed now about our shite showing. myself at the top of that list...

Well, nothing in principle. I just think they should be telling us how it should be done.
It's just seem lik such a big risk.
I'm sure it's just the first stage in a long evolutionary process. But you'd think they'd want to tackle it themselves, given it's massive audience and profile.
Anyway, I've bored myself. Better go do some work.

they do... I don't see what the problem is of asking people what they think could be bought to the site
- monoboy0
Hmm...
BBC site costs millions (Like £30+) to maintain (including all microsites, CBBIES etc).
Surely they spend a few quid on the homepage?

I am sure over time wheh the site is developed (2010??) that typographical Hierarchy, colour coded content and nice BIG background images will come into play. Give it time, it's the concept that matters.
I bet the coders at BBC are really scratching their head though hehe..

it doesnt suprise me that this NT thread is packed full of negative comments.
personally, i think the 'concept' is quite good and translating that concept through a slider is quite a nice idea. its personal yet generic; its focussed on the user yet able to deliver 'standard' bbc content as normal.
the design is clean and clear, although it could do with possibly bringing in a little more colour, contrast and depth in areas.
congrats to the winner.
